Dr. Jim Bierman

Jim is a native of Los Angeles, California. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in California and registered in New Zealand, with 25 years of clinical experience. He has worked with individual children and adults, couples, families, and groups across the age range, in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Jim recently returned from Hong Kong where he provided outpatient services at Central Health Medical Practice, clinical supervision for doctoral candidates in Hong Kong at Alliant University, CityU/SCOPE. He is also taught postdoctoral students in China through the Chinese American Psychoanalytic Alliance (CAPA). Jim is a long-time advocate for early intervention. He has spoken internationally on this subject and continues to reach out to the community to promote mental health.
Jim has practiced in Los Angeles, Seattle, London, and rural northern California. He received his PhD from the California Graduate Institute in Los Angeles with specialized training in object relations theory and primitive mental states. His advanced postdoctoral training was at University of Washington School of Medicine Parent Evaluation Training Program. As a certified parent evaluator, he is qualified to evaluate parents in high-conflict child custody cases and to make recommendations to the Court for residential placement of children.

In his spare time, Jim enjoys Tai Chi Chuan, yoga, hiking, music, appreciating the beautiful place we live in.
